InDesign-ing!

Adobe InDesign is very useful when it comes to organizing and formatting flyers, brochures, handouts, etc. The Following are mock advertisements created with Adobe InDesign.

Business Flyer Advertisement:
The ideal business, or dream business that I decided to create and promote is The Atlantic Brewery, a new fictional restaurant and brewery opening in downtown Charleston. While creating the business flyer for my new restaurant I kept the concepts of obscurity and symmetry in mind. The background pictures in my flyer are clear and uniquely shaped yet meet to form a diagonal and central banner to concentrate my text upon. The heading is catchy, suggesting to viewers to try something new and refreshing. The company’s logo is clearly visible in the top right corner to establish a sense of familiarity with the reader. The diagonal lines of this flyer are different than the traditional flyer layout and will hopefully catch readers attention more efficiently than other ads. My target audience is beer enthusiasts and happy hour crowds which I believe would be visually attracted to this flyer due to the picture choices and select given information. The company’s slogan is also stated. The multi-angled text keeps the readers eyes active and overall I believe this ad will be effective.

Postcard-sized Advertisement
I stuck with the Atlantic Brewery as the topic of my advertisement. The postcard exclaims that this is a grand opening party of a new brewery that will take place on St. Patrick’s Day. I created a green swatch as the background and incorporated a photo of a beer being poured so the reader clearly knows the purpose of this event (beer and green are icons of St. Patty’s day). Since I had so little space for text, I used bullets and bold clear texts to form catchy statements to grab the readers attention and get them excited for this event. I also stressed the cheap price of the event in an easy to read portion. Directions, the date and other info are also incorporated but do not interfere with the short and to-the-point marketing strategy of this upcoming event.
